TESOL stands for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and is one of the qualifications that you may require to teach English in China. The TESOL training can be tough but we have a few tips to think about on how to achieve the certificate.

1.  Before you start the course take some time to brush up on basic English grammar and structures

Your reading list you receive will really point you in the right direction but we suggest brushing up. You will have to research grammar points on the course so some advance preparation will give a better chance to start the course on the best footing.

2.  You may feel like a beginner

We suggest going into this course with an open mind. You may feel overwhelmed at times but treat this as a learning experience. This experience will ensure that you develop empathy towards your future students who may find themselves in a similar position.

3.  A quiet place to study is paramount

We suggest that you communicate with your family and friends that you will not be available much for them while you are doing this course.

4.  Managing your time effectively

This is easy to forget but to be successful we recommend organising your workload and set realistic deadlines which will guarantee that you get the work completed on time.

5.  Victory is the child of preparation and determination

To get the best out of this course a positive mindset and preparation is the basis of success.

6. Enjoy the course

Earning your TESOL can be remarkably rewarding and you will be amazed at how much you will learn and develop over the four weeks.
